On the Internet, read a biography about the author of your IRB.  How do you see the traditions, heritage, attitudes, or beliefs (pick one) of the author in your book? 

The author of my IRB, Carl Hiaasen, shows his heritage in his book, Flush. In the story, The Underwood family live in a small town in Florida. He shows his heritage through the location of the story. Hiaasen was born and raised in Florida and also graduated form the University of Florida. Recently after graduating he joined the Miami Herald as a reporter and has 14 publish books three of which were writen with his good friend,William D. Montalbano. He does show his heritage in his story.

How does the setting affect the meaning of the story? (Could the story take place somwhere else?)

The setting of my IRB affects the meaning of the story. The story takes place in a small town in Rhode Isalnd. The story could not take place anywhere else becasue then it wouldn't focus mainly on Savvy playing basketball, Callie's steriod problem, and Aunt Betty's sheep. If it were to take place in a big city, for example, it would focus more on school and friends. The story definetly couldn't take place somewhere else.

Describe the author's tone of voice and how the setting contributes to the tone.

The setting of my IRB, Boost by Kathy Mackel, contributes to the author's tone. The author's tone is very monotone. The main character, Savvy, and her family moved in with her Aunt Betty at her farm in a small town in Rhode Island. Nothing very exciting ever happenes there, or atleast in the eyes of Savvy and her sister Callie. In their former home in New Mexico, they were used to luxury and attention. Everything was always exciting for basketball star Savvy and cheerleader master Callie. So since life is very predictable in Rhode Island, just like Savvy's game, the author wrote very moderate and monotone.

How does the setting affect the mood of your story?

The setting in my IRB, The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan the first book of the Kane Chronicles, affects the mood of the story. The mood of my story is very mysterious and suspenseful. Sibblings Carter and Sadie have Julius Kane,  an Egyptologist, for a father that has been keeping somthing from them for years. On the day Carter and Julius go to visit Sadie in London, Julius meetes a mysterious charcater and acts very odd. They don't know this man who is quarriling with their father but Julius claims the whole thing is nothing. The real question is: Is it nothing to worry about, or should Carter and Sadie be concered?

What is the main character's motivaton?

Alison, the main character in Pretty Little Liars, has a very strong motive. Her motive is to get revenge on her former friends, Emily, Spencer, Aria, and Hanna. After Alison disappears, leaving no trace to where she went, her friends think that all their secrets that they have told her are safe. But she knows all the bad things they've done and the things they keep to themselfs. She's out to teach  them a lesson.

Decribe a subplot in your IRB and sure to include specific details.

There is a interesting subplot in my story. Keeper tells about the occasions in which she waxes surfboards for her freind, Dogie, on his Bus. She is paid $1.00 for the short ones and $2.00 for the long ones. Keeper explains step by step what her process is and says that even thought she likes to get and extra dollar for the big ones, they are much more work.
